Frequently Asked Questions

How long should I use LiverTune or LiverTune H+ to detox and cleanse?

First Time Use: Administer orally for four consecutive weeks. For dogs, capsules can be given as is or opened and mixed into food.

Ongoing liver support and detox: Give LiverTune daily for one week each month as a part of a detox, liver health and longevity program.

Dogs with elevated liver enzymes (ALT, GGT):  Use the same recommended dosage and continue giving LiverTune until enzymes return to normal levels.  If levels increase again after discontinuing LiverTune, LiverTune can be given on an ongoing basis. ALT and GGT values should be checked at least every 3-6 months.

Are there any symptoms to expect when starting a cleanse?

Since LiverTune helps expel toxins from the liver and the body, it is not uncommon to see changes in stool such as mucous passing, possibly some diarrhea and occasionally ear or skin irritation as the body is adjusting and ridding itself of toxins.

These symptoms are positive cleansing effects and usually only last a few days to a week, but if they become severe we recommend giving less (1/4 to 1/2 dose) until the body adjusts and symptoms subside.

I have a liver disorder, is it safe to do a cleanse?

It is our experience that LiverTune H+ supports patients with hepatitis and other forms of liver disease, and in some cases can be given on a longer-term basis until liver enzymes return back to normal.

We do recommend that you always consult your primary healthcare provider for guidance if you have been diagnosed with hepatitis or a liver disease.

What is a simple detox and cleanse program for myself and my dog?

It's sometimes hard to get oriented in the infinite number of cleansing and detox protocols out there, but the following protocol works very well.

Step 1. Push out toxins by supplementing the diet with essential minerals, chlorophyll and amino acids. Good minerals compete with toxic elements. Imagine there are only a certain number of chairs in a concert hall and if all of them are taken, the 'uninvited guests' will have nowhere to sit. Balancing the gut with probiotics will also help push toxins and bad minerals out of the body.

Step 2. Clean your main filter - the liver - by doing a liver cleanse. The initial cleanse is four weeks long and then daily for one week per month as a part of a detox, liver health and longevity program.

Step 3. Follow nature's footsteps and use water as your internal cleansing agent. Offer your dog fresh, filtered, dechlorinated water to support the kidneys and general cleansing. Water should be dechlorinated because chlorine can have a negative effect on probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract.

If you still use plastic bottles or water tanks for your water needs, remember that any packaging that is not made by nature is potentially harmful. A glass container or a built-in water filter is the best solution for your dog and your environment.
