Try Healthy Dog ToolFrequently Asked Questions
Why does the SkinSpray label advise caution for use orally in dogs with liver disease unless directed by a veterinarian?
SkinSpray is very safe and is an incredible healing remedy! The warning label on the bottle is a necessary precaution pertaining to the Witch Hazel ingredient which is contraindicated orally, but only in very large quantities as it could cause liver or kidney damage. There is a very small amount of Witch Hazel in SkinSpray and it’s generally used externally versus orally. We are very confident in both the effectiveness and safety of the product.
Is SkinSpray safe to be used on other animals?
Yes! SkinSpray is safe to use on all animals and people.
Does SkinSpray expire?
Although there is no expiry date printed on the bottle, we recommend refreshing your SkinSpray supply every three years to make sure you are getting the full effectiveness of the product as we do not add any preservatives. We manufacture in small batches so the bottle you receive is always fresh. Remember to shake well before each use.
How safe is SkinSpray on eyes, ears, nose and mouth?
SkinSpray is safe to use in the mouth for the gums, on the nose as well as around the eyes. We don't recommend spraying directly into the eyes, but it can be applied from gauze soaked in it and applied to the area with no problem.
SkinSpray can also be used in the ears but any ear infections or concerns also need to be treated internally. There is also the possibility of overcleaning that can occur with overuse.
Why is Ethanol on the label's ingredient list? Will it sting when applied?
Ethanol is used during the manufacturing process to extract the medicinal properties from the plants. Due to regulations, we have added it to the ingredient panel since it is a part of the process.
The alcohol is evaporated out during the manufacturing process so that the final product contains only trace amounts of the original alcohol from the tinctures used to manufacture it. We do this to both make it safer for pets, as well as to reduce any potential of stinging when applied to an open wound.
