Curious which supplements your dog needs?
Try Healthy Dog ToolFrequently Asked Questions
Can I give LiverTune to my puppy or LiverTune H+ to my child?
While LiverTune is safe for all ages, there is no reason to start a liver cleanse until your puppy is at least 6 months of age.
We do not recommend using LiverTune H+ in children younger than 12 years.
My dog has a liver disorder, is it safe to do a cleanse?
Dr. Dobias has found a cleanse to be very beneficial for dogs with liver disease. Read more on treating and preventing liver disease naturally here.
Are there any symptoms to expect when starting a cleanse?
Since LiverTune helps expel toxins from the liver and the body, it is not uncommon to see changes in stool such as mucous passing, possibly some diarrhea and occasionally ear or skin irritation as the body is adjusting and ridding itself of toxins.
These symptoms are positive cleansing effects and usually only last a few days to a week, but if they become severe we recommend giving less (1/4 to 1/2 dose) until the body adjusts and symptoms subside.
Will LiverTune also help with digestion?
LiverTune is not necessarily formulated as a digestive tonic, but it does contain ingredients that support the digestive tract. The main supplement that we have for digestive support is GutSense.
How long should I use LiverTune or LiverTune H+ to detox and cleanse?
First Time Use: Administer orally for four consecutive weeks. For dogs, capsules can be given as is or opened and mixed into food.
Ongoing liver support and detox: Give LiverTune daily for one week each month as a part of a detox, liver health and longevity program.
Dogs with elevated liver enzymes (ALT, GGT): Use the same recommended dosage and continue giving LiverTune until enzymes return to normal levels. If levels increase again after discontinuing LiverTune, LiverTune can be given on an ongoing basis. ALT and GGT values should be checked at least every 3-6 months.
How do I know if my dog is lacking in minerals or high in toxins?
One easy way to know if your dog is missing minerals is through hair testing such as a HairQ Test.
When minerals are missing, the kidneys automatically reduce the water volume in the body. This leads to dehydration, disease and premature aging.
When we look at HairQ test results, they are very different for dogs that do not get essential plant-based minerals and those that do. It is shocking to see that pretty much every dog not receiving supplements is severely depleted in nutrients. These dogs appear to age faster and become more stiff, immobile and sick as a consequence of this depletion.
