Step 1 of 4 — Meats

Choose your meats

It is ok to feed a single protein or mix them if you wish. You can select up to eight options. Meats can be fed raw or cooked based on your and your dog's preference. 🐶❤️

Selected: 0 / 8
Important: Raw meat safety

All meats and fish, with the exception of poultry, should be previously frozen for at least 7 days at temperatures below -0.4°F (-18°C) to destroy tapeworms, that can be present even in meat that was officially inspected.

Never Feed Your Dog Before Exercise ‼️

Exercising on a full stomach may lead to gastric dilatation/volvulus (stomach bloat), which can be a life-threatening emergency.
Ideally feed your dog after a walk or exercise and allow 3 to 4 hours for digestion after feeding.

Step 2 of 4 — Vegetables

Choose your vegetables and fruit

Veggies are an important part of balanced diet and a source of essential nutrients. Select your dog's vegetables from the list below or pick one of Dr. Dobias' veggie blends. Ideally choose a variety of vegetables and chop them in a food processor. Veggies can be mixed in with meats and organs or fed separately. If your dog doesn't like veggies, add FeelGood Omega or preferred food toppers. Fruit is optional, choose dark coloured berries or lower sugar fruits. Do not exceed 5% of fruit in the recipe.

Selected: 0 / 8

Dr. D's Recommended Blends

or choose individually
Vegetables and fruits to avoid

Allium Family (all parts, raw or cooked)

  • Onions
  • Chives
  • Leeks
  • Shallots

Nightshade Family (leaves, stems and unripe produce)

  • Raw/sprouted/green potatoes and potato leaves and stems
  • Tomato leaves, stems, and unripe green tomatoes
  • Eggplant leaves and stems

Other Vegetables

  • Wild mushrooms that are not edible
  • Rhubarb (especially the leaves)
  • Corn on the cob (cob is a choking/blockage hazard)
  • Raw fava/broad beans

Toxic Fruits!

  • Grapes
  • Raisins
  • Avocado peel and pit (flesh is ok)
  • All fruit pits, stems and cores in general

How to prepare vegetables

Vegetables can be chopped with a knife or in a food processor to puree them. If your dog likes whole chunks, it is ok. Lightly blanching or steaming is also an option for harder veggies and those marked "Must Be Cooked."

Step 3 of 4 — Organs

Choose your organs (optional)

Organs are beneficial but considered optional especially if you balance your dog's diet with Dr. Dobias's FAB4 essential supplements. You can feed them raw or cooked — though raw retains more nutrients.

Selected: 0
Caution: Beware of feeding too much liver

Be careful not to overfeed liver — there is a risk of hypervitaminosis A (vitamin A toxicity) if fed in excess. Limit liver to less than 2% of the overall diet, and ideally vary organs frequently.

Dr. Dobias suggests ideally organic organs.

Step 4 of 4 — Bones

Choose raw bones (optional)

Raw bones are a valuable source of calcium and other minerals and also highly beneficial for dental health. Never feed cooked bones as they are not digestable.

Selected: 0
Raw bones safety guidelines

NEVER feed cooked bones— they become brittle and can splinter, causing internal injury.
Avoid large femur/marrow bones — they are too hard and can fracture teeth.
• Always supervise your dog when eating raw bones.
• Feed bones two to three times a week. White, crumbly feces is normal after eating bones.
• For small dogs: chicken wings, feet, and lamb ribs are ideal.
• Raw bones are safe for dogs with a healthy digestive tract.

How to give these supplements

Mix supplements into your dog's meal

All supplements can be mixed into your dog's meal just before feeding to preserve potency and freshness.

FeelGood Omega® makes veggies palatable

If your dog is picky, drizzle FeelGood Omega® oil over the vegetable portion as it makes them far more appealing to picky eaters. Refrigerate FeelGood Omega after opening.

Always add just before feeding

Don't mix supplements into batch-prepared food that will be stored — add fresh each time to preserve enzyme activity and potency.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why feed a raw diet instead of kibble?

Dogs are carnivores with a short, acidic digestive tract designed for raw meat — not grains and complex carbohydrates. Many health issues (skin, joint, digestive, immune) often improve significantly after switching to a species-appropriate raw or whole food diet. The faeces from a kibble-fed dog is three times larger with stronger odour — nature's clear message that processed food isn't being utilised efficiently. Read the full article →

Should I feed bones to my dog — are cooked bones safe?

Never feed cooked bones.Cooked bones become brittle and can splinter, posing serious choking and internal injury risks. Raw bones — particularly chicken or turkey carcasses, backs and necks — are safe, digestible and serve as an excellent calcium source. Always ensure meat and bones were previously frozen for at least 7 days at below -18°C / -0.4°F to eliminate parasites. See the full bone guide →

Why do I need supplements if I'm feeding a good raw diet?

Industrial farming has stripped soil of minerals year after year. Food is transported thousands of miles, so minerals leave the soil but never return. This means even the highest-quality raw diet can be mineral-deficient. The FAB4 supplements cover all essential nutrient gaps — minerals (GreenMin®), vitamins (SoulFood®), omega-3s (FeelGood Omega®) and gut health (GutSense®). Learn more about GreenMin® →

How often should I feed my dog?

Dr. Dobias recommends feeding once per day for adult dogs and considering a weekly fast day. Research shows fasting activates the body's cleansing processes responsible for DNA repair and longevity. Puppies under 6 months should be fed 2–3 times daily. The recipe maker calculates your dog's total daily amount — split it between meals as you prefer.

Why is FeelGood Omega® better than regular fish oil?

Most fish oil comes from overfished species and can be contaminated with mercury. FeelGood Omega® uses calamari (squid) oil — squid populations have been rising since the 1950s, making it one of the most sustainable choices. Squid are short-lived and low on the food chain, naturally very low in toxins, with an excellent EPA and DHA balance. Learn more →

Why are fermented supplements more effective?

Most dog supplements are isolated synthetic chemicals the body doesn't fully recognise. Through Dr. Dobias's proprietary dual-stage fermentation process, nutrients are broken down into their most digestible form, achieving 7–10× greater bioavailability than conventional supplements. Learn more about SoulFood® →

How does the recipe calculation work?

The recipe maker uses a simple, veterinarian-validated formula: daily food (grams) = dog's weight in lbs × 10. For a 25 lb dog that's 250g per day. Portions are then adjusted based on body condition (−20% for overweight, +20–40% for underweight) and split across food groups: 50% meat, 25% vegetables, 20% raw bones, 5% organs. All amounts are in grams and ounces for easy measuring.

Can I travel with raw food?

Yes — Dr. Dobias recommends: (1) Homemade frozen raw food in a cooler, (2) Store-bought frozen raw, (3) Freshly sourced local meat cooked on the road, (4) Homemade dehydrated raw for hiking. The FAB4 supplements travel easily and work with any diet — raw, cooked or quality kibble as a last resort. Read the travel guide →
