The FeelGood Omega Story

The FeelGood Omega Story: Why This Formula Is Different

When my team and I set out to find the best omega-3 source for dogs, we had no idea how difficult — and eye-opening — the journey would be.

I discovered that most omega-supplements come with serious problems.

Here's why I rejected the most common sources:

Fish oil: Overfishing has devastated ocean ecosystems, and mercury contamination is now unavoidable

Krill oil: Krill are the foundation of marine life — harvesting them threatens whales, seals, and the entire marine food chain

Algae oils: Produced predominantly using GMOs and toxic methyl alcohol extraction

Flax and seed oils: Only contain ALA, which dogs cannot effectively convert into the EPA and DHA they actually need

After two years of searching, we found our answer in a small family-owned producer in Norway.

Calamari (squid) populations have been rising since the 1950s due to fewer natural predators. They're low on the food chain, which means virtually no mercury accumulation. And they're incredibly rich in both EPA and DHA — the omega-3s that actually matter for your dog's joints, brain, skin, cell repair and longevity.

When I visited the Norwegian facility, I was struck by the meticulous attention to quality at every step. Advanced monitoring systems ensure the highest omega-3 levels during production. Every bottle of FeelGood Omega is protected by nitrogen during the filling process to prevent oxidation and maintain the full potency all the way to your dog’s bowl. In other words, to prevent oxidation and rancidity.

Our calamari oil is:

✓ Third-party tested heavy metal-free

✓ Verified for purity and potency with every batch

✓ Friends of the Sea certified — sustainably sourced to protect whales and the whole marine ecosystem

✓ Produced in Norway by a family-owned facility with the highest standards

This is an omega-3 you can feel good about giving.

Why not fish?

We can’t ignore the fact that fish are no longer sustainable due to overfishing, and that mercury contamination is now unavoidable.

Why not krill?

Krill are the foundation of the marine food chain — whales, seals, penguins, and fish all depend on them. Excessive krill harvesting threatens the entire ocean ecosystem.

Algae icon
Why not algae oils?

We were disappointed to find out that often algae-based EFAs are produced with GMOs, which we do not use in our products. Our main concern is that the long term effect of GMO on nature is unknown. Also, algae oils are extracted using methyl alcohol, which is toxic.

Whole food icon
Why not flax and other seed oils?

Plant oils like flax contain only ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) — a short-chain omega-3 that dogs and humans convert poorly to the EPA and DHA they actually need. They're simply not an adequate omega-3 source.

Why not phytoplankton?

The main reason we didn’t choose phytoplankton is because it produces dimethyl sulphate, a toxic, carcinogenic compound that can affect fetal development. This ruled it out as a safe omega-3 source.

So...Why Calamari / Squid oil?

Calamari populations have been rising since the 1950s due to declining numbers of their natural predators. They're low on the food chain, which means virtually no mercury or heavy metal accumulation. Plus, they're exceptionally rich in EPA and DHA — the omega-3s that matter most.

Why Calamari Beats Every Other Omega-3 Source

Sustainable for the planet. Safe for your dog. Rich in the EPA and DHA that matter most.

Why EPA & DHA Are Essential for Your Dog

Omega-3 fatty acids aren't optional — they're fundamental to your dog's health at every life stage.

Most dogs don't get nearly enough omega-3 in their diet, which is why supplementation is so important. FeelGood Omega delivers two critical omega-3s in their most bioavailable form:

1. EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) — The Anti-Inflammatory Omega

  • Supports healthy joints and comfortable mobility
  • Research shows omega-3s can provide anti-inflammatory effects comparable to NSAIDs—without the serious side effects
  • Helps maintain cell repair and organ health
  • Promotes healthy, lustrous skin and coat

2. DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) — The Brain & Beauty Omega

  • Essential for nervous system function and cognitive health
  • Protects and strengthens the blood-brain barrier that protects the brain from damage and inflammation
  • Supports healthy brain development in puppies
  • Helps to prevent cognitive decline in senior dogs

Why both EPA and DHA matter:

Why both EPA and DHA matter:

Calamari oil has an ideal balance of both omega-3s. You'll often see the results in your dog's shiny coat, organ health, youthful energy, pain-free joints and slower aging.

What about Omega-6 and Omega-9?

Lady hugging a dog

What about Omega-6 and Omega-9?

Your dog already gets plenty. Omega-6 is abundant in meat, eggs, grains, and seeds. Omega-9 can be produced by your dog's body naturally. Omega-3—especially EPA and DHA—is what's almost always deficient. That's why we focus on delivering the highest quality omega-3 available.

Purity & Safety You Can Trust

Every batch of FeelGood Omega goes through rigorous testing to ensure what goes in the bottle is safe, pure, and potent.

Here's what we do to guarantee quality:

Tested free of heavy metals

Lab-tested for EPA and DHA potency—so you know exactly what you're getting

Third-party tested for heavy metals and environmental toxins

Batch-verified with additional testing to confirm every result

Why calamari is naturally cleaner:

Squid are low on the ocean food chain, which means they accumulate far less mercury and toxins than predatory fish like tuna, mackerel, or even salmon. The chart below shows the dramatic difference:

Squid contains just 0.02 PPM mercury—the same ultra-low level as sardines, and a fraction of what you'll find in most fish oils. In addition, we further micro-filter FeelGood Omega to ensure zero mercury levels.

The result? An omega-3 oil that's as clean as it is powerful—tested, verified, and safe for daily use.

FAQs

How do I store the product?

Refrigerate after opening to maintain freshness.

What is the shelf life?

Two years unopened. Once opened, use within 90 days for optimal freshness.

What if the bottle for my dog lasts longer 90 days?

For small dogs, a bottle can be guaranteed for optimal potency only for 90 days, unlike the oil in an unopened bottle that is protected by inert nitrogen gas. If you do have a smaller dog, doubling the dose will provide additional benefits that are confirmed by the most recent research. You can also use the oil in smoothies and for your own use as it is made from top quality human grade ingredients in a certified facility.

Why do I see a cloudy sediment at the bottom of the bottle after storing in the refrigerator?

This is completely normal. Cold temperatures cause the oil to solidify slightly which doesn’t affect the potency or quality of the product. Simply let the bottle sit at room temperature for a few minutes — the cloudiness will disappear.

Does it have a fishy smell?

FeelGood Omega has a natural seafood scent which dogs generally like. However it is not as strong as fish oil.

How much EPA and DHA does it have?

Each teaspoon (5ml) contains:

  • 410mg EPA
  • 920mg DHA
  • 1,430mg total omega-3
My dog had a reaction to salmon oil. Would this be a good alternative?

Fish and squid are genetically very different species, and a dog allergic to fish may not react to squid — similar to how someone allergic to fish might tolerate shellfish. Start with a small amount and monitor your dog's response.

Can humans take it and if so how much?

Yes. Adults can take 2 - 3 teaspoons daily.

Is it safe for cats?

Yes, FeelGood Omega is safe for cats, though it's labeled for dogs. You can use the small dog dose for cats.

How is Calamari [squid] more sustainable and less toxic?

Squid populations have been rising since the 1950s, and they're low on the food chain — meaning virtually no mercury accumulation. They're naturally rich in EPA and DHA, making them an ideal sustainable omega-3 source.

Why don’t you use sardine and herring oil?

Small fish oils can contain elevated strontium levels — a radioactive element released during the Fukushima disaster. Sardines from affected migration areas may carry this contamination.  Also, sourcing omega-3 based fish oils is far less sustainable.

Why don't you use krill?

The latest research shows that krill overfishing endangers the whole marine food chain that depends on krill.

What type of fishing methods are used?

Calamari are caught using targeted, selective methods that attract only squid — not other marine life. Fishermen use lights at night to draw squid to the surface, then catch them individually with barbless hooks. This means virtually no accidental by-catch of other species.

Why do Calamari fisheries have minimal environmental impact?

Calamari are caught using highly selective methods:

  • Targeted jigging with barbless hooks attracts only adult squid
  • Fishing occurs at night using lights
  • Zero collateral damage to ocean floors or coral reefs
  • Virtually no by-catch of other species
Where is FeelGood Omega produced?

It is made in a family owned facility in Norway.

Which oceans does the Calamari come from?

Our calamari is sourced from waters off Argentina, Chile, and Korea. We don't source from China.
