Every year, tens of thousands of dogs suffer serious reactions to conventional flea products. Many lose their health. Some lose their lives.
I know this because I’ve seen it firsthand. During my years in practice, I saw several patients get seriously sick after conventional flea treatments. One dog seized immediately after application. It was frightening — and it was the moment I stopped recommending these products entirely.
I also know it because the EPA data confirms it, year after year.
That’s not a risk I’m willing to accept for your dog or my dog Pax, especially because there are safe and effective e alternatives.
FleaHex® is the solution - effective, 99% certified organic anti-flea product that I have developed with my co-creator and herbalist Gabriella over years of testing in Maui, Hawaii, what I've always called the flea capital of the world. The regions tropical climate and humidity is ideal for fleas to thrive.
FleaHex works on adult fleas, disrupts the flea cycle, and repels new fleas. And it does all of that without the the side-effects of conventional flea products.

The Problem: What They’re Not Telling You About Conventional Flea Products
Many dog parents don’t think twice about reaching for a conventional flea collar or spot-on treatment. They’re everywhere, including veterinary clinics, they’re convenient, and the packaging makes them look safe.
But here’s what they usually do not tell you when you are purchasing the product:
According to the NRDC, common flea and tick products can expose your dog — and your children — to toxic pesticide concentrations that exceed EPA safety limits by 500 times. In a single year, the EPA documented over 20,000 reported canine incidents from spot-on flea products alone, including hundreds of moderate to severe reactions and 167 deaths.
The active ingredients in many of these products are derived from nerve agents. They work by disrupting the nervous system — and because that neurological process is shared across species, they don’t just harm the fleas.
There is a better way.
The Solution: A Complete, Natural Protocol That Actually Works
FleaHex® is a three-product system designed to eliminate fleas from your dog, your home, and the environment — without chemicals, without compromises, and with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
FleaHex® Wash
The foundation of the protocol. A 99% certified organic herbal wash that kills adult fleas, disrupts the flea cycle, and leaves your dog’s coat soft and conditioned. Used weekly for four to six weeks, then as needed.
FleaHex® Household Spray
Fleas don’t just live on your dog — most of them, the larvae and the adults, live and reproduce in your carpets, bedding, and furniture. The household spray treats your dog’s environment weekly to halt the flea-cycle and prevent re-infestation.
TickHex® Body Spray
A daily or as-needed spray for your dog’s coat that repels both fleas and ticks between washes. Safe enough to use every day during peak season.
Together, these three products break the flea cycle completely. Each product has a specific job. All three are made from plant-based, certified organic ingredients. And the complete system is less than what most people spend on conventional treatments — treatments that carry risks no dog parent should have to take.
The Story: Born in the Flea Capital of the World
The Story: Born in the Flea Capital of the World
In 2008, as I started my online holistic veterinary work, we started spending our winters in Maui, Hawaii. It was an escape from endless dark and rainy winters. My online work consumed me, but we still had time for dog walks in pastures for hours, and swimming in the ocean, recharging our depleted vitamin D supplies.
There was just one problem. Hawaii is THE flea capital of the world!
Within days of arriving, Skai — who had never had a single flea in his life — was covered in them. My new friend Gabriella, a master herbalist and organic farmer I'd met at a local yoga studio, was dealing with the same thing. Neither of us wanted to reach for conventional flea products. We both knew what was in them.
So Gabriella started experimenting. She tested herbal formulas and essential oil combinations, refining and adjusting over the course of a few years. I was skeptical at first — I genuinely didn’t believe it was possible to create something natural that would eliminate adult fleas, disrupt the flea cycle, and repel new ones. I was wrong.
Gabriella wasn't thinking about launching a product. But I knew what we had, and I told her: pet parents and their dogs need this. We launched FleaHex® together, and Gabriella remains a true partner in this product to this day.
When we were deciding on the name, I told Gabriella: you’re a master herbalist, but you’re also — and I say this with complete admiration — a little bit of a witch. ”Let’s call it FleaHex! She laughed and thought about it for a moment. “It’s got that ‘witchiness’ — it makes me giggle. It’s like a mystical, magical formula that can make a big difference.”
She was right! FleaHex® was the perfect name. And the product really does feel a little like magic — though as you’ll see in a moment, the science behind every ingredient is anything but mysterious
Why FleaHex®? The Science Behind the Decision
Why FleaHex®? The Science Behind the Decision
In the following section, we briefly cover some of the research on the toxicity of traditional, drug-based flea control products — and why that research led us to create a better alternative.
A report by the NRDC found that the riskiest conventional flea products contain a family of compounds called organophosphates, or OPs. OP pesticides are derived from nerve agents and work by interfering with nerve signal transmission. Because the neurological process they target is shared across species — insects, dogs, cats, and humans alike — they can harm far more than just the fleas.
Over a four-year period ending in 1996, poison control centers logged approximately 25,000 cases of children under the age of six who were exposed to OP pesticides from flea and tick products. Hundreds were hospitalized.
A 2009 NRDC report found that common flea and tick products can expose dogs and children to toxic pesticide concentrations exceeding EPA safety limits by 500 times. In a single year — 2008 — the EPA documented 20,245 reported canine incidents from spot-on products alone:
| Minor Side Effects | Moderate Side Effects | Major Side Effects | Deaths |
|---|---|---|---|
|
15,186 |
4,748 |
144 |
167 |
The EPA study covered the most popular spot-on flea and tick control products on the market and is the only such study ever done to monitor the effects of these drugs on companion animals. This data is publicly available on the EPA's own website. It is exactly why I stopped recommending these products to my patients long before FleaHex® existed.
Over 50,000 Percent More Than EPA Recommended Toxicity Levels

A 2009 NRDC report found that common flea and tick shampoos, collars, sprays and dips can expose dogs and children to toxic pesticide concentrations exceeding EPA safety limits by 500 times — 50,000 percent. And in 2021, the NRDC reported that the EPA had received 75,000 incident reports documenting pet harms associated with just one type of flea collar.
The Ingredients: Simple, Purposeful, Organic
I’ve always believed that nature makes simple products. FleaHex® Wash has four active components, each chosen for a specific reason, and all working together.
Reduces inflammation, helps flea allergy dermatitis and skin infections, and leaves your dog's coat silky soft and easy to comb.
Neem oil is known for its insect repelling properties. Our neem oil works in synergy with HEXCalibur® Essential Oil Blend.
The delivery system. This all-natural soap cleanses your dog’s skin and distributes FleaHex’s active ingredients evenly throughout the coat, ensuring full coverage down to the skin.
This proprietary formula is a carefully calibrated blend of lemongrass, cedar, rosemary, tea tree and peppermint essential oils. It’s what makes FleaHex® stand apart from every other natural flea product on the market. Non-toxic, safe for children and genuinely effective.
Safety & Efficacy
FleaHex® Wash has been tested for four years and on the market since 2015. In that time it has built one of the highest safety and excellent satisfaction records of any natural flea product available.
Here’s what that means in practice:
- Natural and plant-based ingredients
- Safe for puppies eight weeks and older
- Safe for pregnant dogs
- Safe around children
- BPA-free, 100% recyclable packaging
- No chemicals. No synthetic pesticides.
We’ve tested FleaHex® in Maui — where fleas are a year-round, full-scale problem — and across the eastern United States, Canada, and the Pacific Northwest. In all of those environments, with all of those different flea populations, we didn’t see it fail if used according to the instructions. That’s why we back it with a 100% lifetime money-back guarantee. If it doesn’t work for your dog, you get your money back. No hassle, no questions.
How to Use FleaHex®
Step 1 — Wash
Use FleaHex® Wash to thoroughly wash your dog once per week for four to six weeks. Comb and prepare your dog’s coat as you would for any bath. If the coat is very dirty or greasy, wash first with a regular dog shampoo, then apply FleaHex®. Wet your dog’s torso thoroughly with lukewarm water — you won’t need to apply FleaHex® to the head. Work the wash through the coat for a full 10 minutes, adding water as needed to ensure it penetrates down to the skin. Rinse thoroughly. Towel dry or air dry — either is fine and will not reduce the effect.
Step 2 — Clean & Spray Your Home
Vacuum your entire home thoroughly, paying close attention to your dog’s favorite spots. Wash all blankets and bedding on a hot cycle. Spray carpets, bedding, and furniture with FleaHex® Household Spray weekly for four to six weeks. You can also spray the inside of your vacuum bag to prevent re-infestation.
It may take several weeks to see the flea population decline, especially in severe infestations. This is normal — you’re breaking a cycle, not just killing what’s visible.
Step 3 - Spray your dog
Use TickHex® Body Spray ( against fleas and ticks) on your dog between washes, up to once per day during flea and tick season. Do not spray near the face. For complete protection, TickHex® should be used alongside FleaHex® Wash and FleaHex® Household Spray.

FAQs
What is the minimum age I can start using FleaHex?
Eight weeks is the minimum recommended age.
Can it be used on pregnant or nursing dogs?
FleaHex® is safe for pregnant dogs. We recommend avoiding use while your dog is nursing.
What are the ingredients?
All of our ingredients are of the highest quality, natural and organic, with two minor exceptions: a small emulsifier used in FleaHex® Household Spray, and a small amount of natural scent added to balance Neem. For the full ingredients list and descriptions, see the Ingredients section above.
Can you use FleaHex® Household Spray on Dogs?
Yes — in cases of severe flea infestation, FleaHex® Household Spray can be applied directly to your dog once a week during the first month of treatment. It is formulated primarily for household use, but it is safe enough to use on your dog when needed
What is the HEXCalibur® formula?
HEXCalibur® is our proprietary blend of certified organic essential oils — lemongrass, rosemary, peppermint, tea tree, and cedar. It is non-toxic and safe for both dogs and children.
How much do I use?
It depends on the size of your dog. You need to use enough product to penetrate all the way down to the skin. A thorough comb-through before the wash will help you use less. If your dog is particularly dirty, wash with a regular shampoo first, rinse, then apply FleaHex®.
How long do I lather FleaHex® for?
A full 10 minutes, adding water as needed to help the product penetrate down to the skin. Your dog will appreciate the massage.
Why is FleaHex® a wash and not a spot or oral product?
Oral flea treatments introduce chemicals directly into your dog's system. Spot-on products absorb into the skin and stay there for weeks at high concentration. A wash gives you effective coverage and then rinses away — leaving minimal residue.
How often is it applied?
During active infestation, use FleaHex® Wash once per week for four to six weeks, and FleaHex® Household Spray once per week on bedding, carpets, and blankets for the same period. It may take several weeks to see the flea population decline — this is normal, especially in severe infestations. Once fleas are gone, use once or twice a month as a preventive, depending on how heavy the flea season is in your area.
What if FleaHex® is not working?
FleaHex® is highly reliable, but it's possible to see fleas for several weeks before the population declines — especially in severe infestations. This depends on the level of infestation and how many eggs and larvae are present in your home. Make sure you're following the label instructions and treating weekly for the full four to six weeks. If you're still seeing fleas after that, email us, and we'll help you troubleshoot or issue a full refund — whichever you prefer.
Will it work more quickly if I use twice as much?
No — more product won't speed things up. The goal is penetration, not volume. Use enough to reach the skin and you'll get the full effect
What if I don't have fleas right now? Can it be used as a preventative measure?
Absolutely. We recommend using FleaHex® Household and TickHex Body Spray (against fleas and ticks) together once or twice a month to prevent fleas from establishing themselves, depending on the length of flea season in your area.
Are just a few fleas nothing to worry about?
A few fleas visible on your dog means dozens — and likely hundreds — are waiting to hatch in your home. Even one flea is a sign that a larger problem is developing. Act early.
My dog is scratching, how do I know that he has fleas?
Use a flea comb to check for fleas or flea dirt in your dog's coat. If you find neither, the scratching may have another cause — allergies, skin conditions, or other irritants.
What makes your formula different from the other all-natural formulas?
Three things. It eliminates adult fleas, it disrupts the flea cycle so new ones can't develop, and it repels fleas from returning. Most natural products only do one of those things. FleaHex® does all three — with certified organic ingredients and a lifetime 100% money-back guarantee.
How long will a bottle last?
It depends on the size of your dog. In our experience, one bottle lasts several months or longer for most dogs.
How long does it last? What is the expiry date?
There's no expiry date printed on the bottle. Because we don't add preservatives, we recommend refreshing your supply every two years to ensure full effectiveness.
Does it work on other animals?
FleaHex® has been developed and tested exclusively for dogs. It has not been tested on cats or other animals, and we don't recommend using it on other species.
Does FleaHex® work on ticks?
We've seen some promising results, but for tick prevention we developed TickHex® — our dedicated all-natural tick and flea body spray. See theTickHex® product page by selecting the TickHex variant at the top this product page or click here to learn more
What if my dog goes swimming? Will it wash off?
If you're applying FleaHex® weekly as directed, swimming between applications won't significantly affect protection. If you notice re-infestation after your dog swims frequently, increase the frequency of application as needed.
Precaution
If your dog is sensitive or allergic to essential oils, we recommend testing FleaHex® by applying to a small area of skin. Please avoid contact with your dog's eyes.
