Writing after exercise is the best. Endorphins are running high and ideas are like racehorses waiting to be released from their stables into the pasture.
I started the morning with a shot of GreenMin, SoulFood and FeelGood Omega and all charged up, I dove into decluttering my clothing closet. While getting rid of things that I didn't need, I thought how similar the body is to life in general. Shedding useless stuff feels good!
Decluttering is great for our mind and cleansing and detoxing is great for dogs and our body.
For a few reasons, I felt a little low last week. It was the 1st anniversary of Skai’s passing. I also got whacked on my head with a surfboard fin and ended up with a 3-inch laceration and stitches. Finally, I was knocked down by a car on my bike and fractured my finger. I was lucky but…Today, I feel better! Thanks to a finger brace I wear, I was able to go for a bike ride with a few friends. It was a moderate ride of 60 km (40 miles) and 3500 vertical feet of elevation. The best part of the ride was the guilt-free trip to the local "hippy/granola" coffee shop to indulge in chocolate brownies, a cappuccino and buckwheat crepes with veggies, pesto and goat cheese.
Last time, when I wrote about my addictions, I forgot to mention one. I am addicted to learning from audiobooks!
The one that I am listening to right now is called Delivering Happiness, which is about Zappo’s, an online shoe retailer that focuses on the best customer service and a hassle-free experience for their customers.
For the last few years, I have been sort of battling a few "smart but rather conventional business people" who have tried to tell me that every business must have sale targets and financial goals which in my mind puts you and your dogs behind the profits. It just didn't feel right.
It was hard to go against other people’s advice and I was even thinking that maybe I was too idealistic and naive to focus mainly on quality and customer care. But I did it anyway.
Listening to Delivering Happiness was like medicine to me, because they too focus on delivering top quality service to their customers. In our case you and your dogs.
In my mind, your dog is first, and then everything else comes after. Rewards to me are only the by-product of doing what we love to do and they come naturally without needing to focus on them too much. Plus, research shows that if basic needs are met, more money in the bank does not make people happier.
Just recently, I was at the biggest natural grocery chain ( guess who ) and read their values posted on a wall. It said that "They create wealth through profits and growth." My thoughts were: "Where is the customer?" There was nothing in the sentence that said they cared about the customers. The statement was contrived and shallow.
What rings true to me is focusing on "better, not necessarily bigger." It removes the pressure from work, and the whole team enjoys it more.
For example, better means making our products competitive, by eliminating the middleman and selling directly online. In my opinion, using the middleman increases prices for you which results in fewer dogs benefiting from all natural essentials.
Unlimited Free Shipping?
One of the largest expenses of online shopping is shipping. When we pay free shipping, our cost is between $10 to $35 dollars (depending on location). This is the main reason why we have created the $129 order minimum because if someone orders just one product, we would effectively subsidize the sale.
Not everyone can purchase products for the minimum of $129 which prevents dogs from getting the essentials they need. As I said before dogs are #1 in the hierarchy of our values, which led me to an idea I hope you will like.
From a business point of view, it may be risky to agree to always pay for shipping, but when I look at it from the perspective of our values, it feels right.
This is why my team and I have decided to offer you FREE SHIPPING AND RETURNS on all order sizes in the US, Canada and Internationally*. For now, this offer is valid for a limited time only**, but my goal is to extend this offer indefinitely.
I hope you will take advantage of this offer. Enjoy and give your dog a hug for me!
