Update on Skai's injury, free 15 minute consult and who is Skai's auntie?
Hi my dear two-legged friends,
This is Skai again, Peter’s dog! I have a few things to share with you today…Some of you may have been wondering why you have not heard from me for a few weeks and I have an explanation.
A few weeks ago, I took Peter away from his computer to the beach. He is sometimes like a Border Collie and doesn’t know when to stop working. The only way to get him away from the screen is to pretend that I am all mopey and sad. It doesn’t take long for Peter to get up and go because he loves me and wants to make me happy. I simply know how to push dad’s buttons and have perfected my skills in the almost 13 years we have been together…
When we got to the beach, something really silly happened. I was playing and running, I love running backwards, making sure that Peter is in my sight. I always watch him to make sure that he doesn’t get swept in the ocean. As I was moving at full speed, a tree trunk sticking out of the beach got in my way and I slammed right into it with my chest. It really hurt. I don’t cry out very often, but I did and fell to the ground…. It was nasty. Dad ran right to me, checking me over and luckily, I didn’t have any skin wounds and then he held me for some time until I caught my breath. I could see dad was really worried because tears were rolling down his face…
Dad knew that I suffered quite a bad injury to my back and possibly bruised my lungs. He gave me Arnica and Zyflamend, a natural anti-inflammatory medication in addition to the essential supplements that I normally get, rested me for a few days, but it became pretty clear that I did a pretty good number on my back.
You know how dad is, he doesn’t leave a dog alone until he feels better again and so he took me to a local chiropractor. I don’t know why, but the treatment made me even more sore and after a week, I could barely move.
I could see how worried dad was and one day, he called Auntie Catherine. You humans call her Dr. Lavoie - chiropractor. I know she lives far far away where people speak a funny language called “French!?”
Auntie gave dad a few ideas where to touch me to put me back into alignment and it made me feel better. However, dad is not a chiropractor and he really hoped auntie Catherine could look at me. I normally go to auntie and uncle Lana and Shaun Patterson they are chiropractors in Vancouver, but they have two little babies and they could not come.
I think Catherine must really love me because she called dad the next day and told him that she was going to come to spend some time in Maui and treat me. Would you believe it that the big metal bird brought her in today! I know some people think it is silly to get such attention. The would say that “I am just a dog” but you and I know that dogs are not just dogs! We are our peoples’ best of the bestest friends and that is worth more than anything.
I will keep you posted about how I am doing so I can record some fun pictures and video’s running around. For now, I am sending you a photo of me hanging out in the park. If you are wondering why I am wearing doggles and a hat, doggles are to protect my eyes from the UV rays and the hat is for fashion, of course!!!
Before I end my p-mail news, I want to mention one more thing. A few weeks ago, dad had to announce that he is up to his capacity when it comes to the private consultations.
However, he really wants to help “your best of the bestest” canine friend.
Take care and have a wonderful weekend! I will promise I will do my best to be in tip-top shape soon.
Wags and Licks!
Skai! (Peter’s bestest friend!)
